Festival Details
Each year, an estimated 3,000 people attend Saint Katherine's Greek Culture and Food Festival. This year's "Weekend in Greece" festival is hosted on the Church grounds in Elk Grove September 25 & 26, 2010. Visitors can enjoy authentic Greek food and pastries, purchase Greek and other items from our vendors, tour our Byzantine-style Church, and view exhibits on Greek culture. In addition, they will enjoy live, Greek music and dancing.
Below is information about supporting our "Weekend in Greece" festival. For more information, please contact our Festival Sponsorship Chair, Jamie Carrieri, at sponsorships@saintkatherine.org or 916-859-0921.
Why should I support this event?
As the major, annual, fundraising event for the Church, the "Weekend in Greece" festival enables her to minister to her parishioners, families, and the community. Saint Katherine not only provides a sacred place of worship and support for her parishioners, but also contributes to and assists the community and those in need.
The Saint Katherine community has helped the Elk Grove Community Assistance Network (formerly the Elk Grove Food Closet), WIND Youth Services (helping homeless youth in Sacramento), the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, and Chicks in Crisis (helping pregnant women in crisis in the Sacramento area). In addition, we also help national organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House and international efforts such as The Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage, an orphanage in Guatemala City's toughest neighborhood. We participate in these various efforts through such activities as collecting food, clothing, and blankets, volunteer services, and financial support. Moreover, through endeavors such as our Ladies Philoptochos Society, we directly aid the poor, the sick, and the elderly.
Your donation to this festival would support the Church's Christian ministry to her parishioners and the Elk Grove and greater Sacramento communities.
What do you get back from this?
By supporting the "Weekend in Greece" festival, you, your family, or business is giving back to the community. Such giving helps the community as a whole to thrive, and in the end, benefits the giver as well.
Your support not only helps Saint Katherine and her parishioners, but also enables us to help the community. Your assistance provides us the means to enrich the lives of our parishioners, guests, and surrounding communities.
Besides knowing you are helping the community, you also gain an opportunity for recognition and visibility before and during the event. As many as 3,000 people during the festival and many more before the festival will see the printed, web, and other advertisements. The next section details these opportunities.
Note:
Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
